The R8845U1003 is an enclosed universal switching relay with built-in 24 V transformer for 2- or 3-wire thermostat control of line-voltage devices. It provides intermediate switching of both line- and low-voltage equipment from a line- or low-voltage controller and is typically used in hydronic heating systems.
